Hi Rodney and Draggon,
My name is Jennifer and I am an engineering student at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, CA. I am on a design team that is working on designing a disc golf luncher for a quadriplegic, Ian, who lives in Washington. Before he became quadriplegic he loved to play disc golf. Have either of you every played disc golf or hear of the game? His power chair is very expensive and specialized. My team and I need to see a chair that is the same as his to take some measurements and figure out how we are going to mount this disc golf launcher.
There are about 40 people working on this project. we have split up into 10 teams of 4 people each. There are 2 teams working on the launching of the disc, 2 teams for the loading of the disc, 2 teams for the tilting of the launcher, 2 teams for the electronics (we are going to interface with Ian's sip and puff) and 2 teams working on the enclosure or platform. I am the team anchor for one of the 2 enclosure teams. So our job is to design a platform for the disc loader, launcher and tilt to sit on, enclose it and mount it to the chair.
I don't know if any of this interests you, but I thought I'd just share anyways.
I am having a really hard time finding a chair near Santa Cruz, California that my team and I can go look at and take some measurements. The chair is a TDX SR. Are you familiar with power chairs or know of this specific chair? And finally, do you know where I should look for one locally?
If you don't mind I would love to ask you more questions. Let me know if this is the appropriate place to do so and if you would like to help.
Thanks so much!
Jennifer
